Jaguar Shaman Dan Reynolds

My Calling

I’m frequently asked what prompted my move to Peru and my decision to become a shaman. I’ve shared the back story of my calling in this venue for those who might be interested.

My back story falls into two parts: The die was cast—for a calling I had no idea existed—in a mysterious 1988 meditation (before I’d experienced Ayahuasca). The particulars unfolded in 2002 when I met the sacred medicine. A light was shed on my previously unidentified calling as spirit beckoned me to embrace my role as a shaman. A short synopsis follows:

● ● ●

In 1988, I became director of marketing for The Monroe Institute and Monroe Products in Virginia. These sister companies possess an internationally renowned audio-guidance technology known as Hemi-Sync that can guide listeners into expanded states of awareness (higher states of consciousness). They offer residential programs and products for home use incorporating this technology. Among other things, I was tasked with helping to develop and distribute new Hemi-Sync titles on cassette tape (later CD).

In addition to working with these audio-guidance tools professionally, I meditated daily with various Hemi-Sync selections to access higher states of consciousness. One morning, while exploring expanded states of awareness in my meditative practice, I suddenly bolted upright from a reclining position. I was stunned by the messaging I’d just received.

A sizeable download of knowledge had taken place. It was like a high-bandwidth transfer of absolute knowing was infused into the fabric of my being. This “knowing” included the certainty that I had a role to play in service to humanity in the times ahead.

To my amazement, End Times-scenarios I had previously researched—involving apocalyptic future events such as natural disasters, the collapsing of world economies and so much more—were made real for me. My “belief system” was wholly amended to a “know system.” I had no words to convey what had just taken place.

All I knew was this particular meditation was soul wrenching. With the untenable gravity of the messaging—and the burden I felt on my shoulders—a die had been cast. Without knowing the details, I was put on track to fulfill a destiny I had no idea existed.

In my prayers and meditations thereafter, I routinely sought whatever guidance I might receive for how I might better serve my fellow man. I was willing to go anywhere and do anything. I just needed clarity as to what exactly my calling might be. The Universe works with impeccable timing in such matters and, knowing this, I felt certain more guidance would avail itself at the appropriate time.

In early 2002, I came across a website about Ayahuasca. At this point, I had never heard of Ayahuasca, but after briefly laying eyes on this site, my inner-guidance kicked in. I knew it was something I had to do. Within a week, I booked a flight to Peru to participate in Ayahuasca ceremonies.

My first ceremony with this master teacher-plant was an eye-opening experience. I felt right at home in the spiritual realms accessible with Ayahuasca, but was, nonetheless, taken aback to be receiving otherworldly messaging that I was a shaman.

These celestial communications persisted, however, highlighting the fact that my primary purpose in this life was to resurrect my past-life shamanic abilities. The instructions were clear; I was to revive my practice of the ancient shamanic arts (an exceedingly potent form of shamanism).

Honestly, I had never considered the notion of becoming a shaman, but my inner-guidance confirmed the validity of my ceremonial revelations. Plus, I began to relate these insights—that I needed to resurrect my past-life shamanic abilities—to my 1988 meditation messaging that I had a role to play in service to humanity. Consequently, I started apprenticing the sacred medicine-plants, Ayahuasca and Huachuma, in a serious way, making two trips a year to Peru.

In 2006, it was time to be “all in.” Thus my spiritual guidance became more dramatic. My messaging left no room for doubt. I needed to “cash out” of my life in the United States and move to Peru to construct the Dawn of Eden shamanic center. This uprooting move was challenging on many levels, but, in other ways, a dream come true.

My heart-felt desire was in motion. I wanted to offer transformational medicine work of the highest order to those seeking to enrich their lives by deepening their connection to spirit. Accordingly, I centered my focus on mastering the ancient healing arts (old-school shamanism). Such mastery was integral to my vision for the Dawn of Eden shamanic center.

In a very real sense, Dawn of Eden’s work is tailored to those seeking a more meaningful and rewarding life; a divinely guided life that’s in keeping with one’s intended purpose. Peru’s sacred medicine-plants Ayahuasca and Huachuma are the proverbial “Fast Track” to achieve communion and alignment with the divine.

As one deepens their connection to spirit, one enriches their sacred connection to their divine nature, their authentic or “higher-self.” This process of self-realization allows one’s “true self” (the very origin of one’s inner-guidance) to orchestrate a divinely guided life.

In Peruvian shamanic circles, the sacred plant-teachers Ayahuasca and Huachuma are known to call those with whom they wish to work. Being “called” by these divine agents of transformation is akin to receiving a spiritual invitation. You will know if you’ve been called. You will have an inexplicable “knowing” it is something you need to do.

Ultimately—by answering such a calling—I was, in turn, presented with my true purpose in this life, my “higher calling,” if you will.  Henceforth, this purpose evolved into my modern–day practice of the ancient shamanic arts.

I offer the back story of my calling with the knowledge that some variation of this phenomenon might happen to you. Mother Ayahuasca often reveals one’s true purpose in life and when this occurs, it is a precious gift. If you are thinking about ceremonies with the sacred medicine-plants, we hope you consider Dawn of Eden.

Dan Reynolds facilitates Ayahuasca and Huachuma ceremonies for Dawn of Eden with his close associate, Denis Montes, a gifted shaman-Oracle. Both are Jaguar Shamans—between-world mediators of a high-order.

Dan and Denis consider their transformational work with the sacred medicine plants to be the crowning glory of their spiritual lives. They attribute the healing and transformation occurring in their ceremonies to the Egyptian deities with whom they work, the spirit of Mother Ayahuasca, their jaguar-spirit collaborators and other divine beings in service to humanity.
